Our Founder

Hi, I'm Dr. Takisha Gastile, educator, STEM advocate, parent, and Founder and Head of School of HomeSTEM Academy.

For more than 20 years, I have dedicated my career to helping students and educators succeed across K–12 and higher education. I hold a doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction and am a certified Texas principal. I spent 15 years in Houston ISD, serving as a science educator and district-level curriculum leader, and later served as a university lecturer preparing future teachers for the classroom.

Throughout my career, I have developed and led curriculum, supported and trained educators, and secured grant funding to expand access to high-quality STEM learning opportunities.

As both an educator and a parent, I understand that every child learns differently. I also know that families shouldn't have to choose between academic excellence, personalized support, and flexibility.

That's why I founded HomeSTEM Academy.

HomeSTEM was created to provide a flexible, STEM-focused learning environment where students are known, challenged, supported, and inspired to grow. As Head of School, I remain actively involved in our academic program, monitoring curriculum and instruction, supporting our teachers, reviewing student progress, and ensuring that our educational program reflects the high standards we promise our families.

At HomeSTEM Academy, we're not simply educating students. We're building confident learners, critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and future leaders.
